Second grade started their first art project the week before last and will continue, and finish their project on Thursday.
In this project we had the opportunity to experiment with collage and build our very own imaginary critter by using images of real animals. We started off by coloring a black and white image of a leaf. We used the leaf as the skeleton and starting point for our imaginary animal. From there, we created. Scissors, glue, and magazines invited our imaginations to go on an inventive roller coaster ride. By the end of our first day everyone built a different and unique animal, some with multiple heads, some with wings and tails, some with multiple heads and wings and tails. For Thursday we will construct an environment for our creatures to live. It will be another roller coaster, I’m sure.
