How do thoughts get made? That is the question that prompted this lesson. I had the third grade students brainstorm ideas as they prepared their scratch art surface by first coloring a blank sheet of paper with colorful crayon marks and overlaying the color with black crayon. Then using a scratching tool, they carved out their ideas on how thoughts get processed, how they all come together, where they come from, and how it all gets transformed into an idea.
