I have gotten a few requests for images of my art cart…and sadly i can not find any pictures. So, I have made some drawings, and I hope that this helps.
This is the art cart. I believe it is 24″ wide and 48″ long. It’s a beast and barely fits through the classroom doors. It is super sturdy and has industrial wheels…very key for moving around campus.

The drying rack fit perfectly on the top shelf of the art cart. Not only serving its purpose as a drying rack, it also acted as a means for keeping classroom art separated and organized.

To help keep things organized, small, stackable, tupperwear boxes worked amazingly well.

In a hope to stir up some imaginations, I challenged the 2nd grade classes to design vehicles of the future and something so unique, no one has ever seen it before. Maybe some of their designs we will see in the coming years, solar powered cars, single wheel rollers, or giant building like yachts on wheels. This was paired with a Styrofoam block printing process. It was fun to watch their drawing get printed. They almost look like chalkboard drawings, or blueprints.

This was a rotating paper class project. Each student started with a blank piece of paper and was given 30 seconds to draw an animal part, then, after 30 seconds, they would pass their paper to the right. After about 10 rounds of passing the paper, a crazy animal was created. Each student received the paper they started with, and and added finishing touches and a background. They used sharpie and watercolor to bring their mixed up animal to life.

The unveiling of all the class gala projects! It was so nice to see all the work in one place, presented so well. They looked fabulous and I hope each piece finds an amazing home.

How do thoughts get made? That is the question that prompted this lesson. I had the third grade students brainstorm ideas as they prepared their scratch art surface by first coloring a blank sheet of paper with colorful crayon marks and overlaying the color with black crayon. Then using a scratching tool, they carved out their ideas on how thoughts get processed, how they all come together, where they come from, and how it all gets transformed into an idea.

Last week the 1st grade students collaged some super colorful birds! They used painted craft paper created from a previous lesson (focusing on inventing textures and patterns with stamps and tempera paint), scissors, and glue.
